Han Byung-do Previews Submission of Election Commission Special Probe Bill This Week
Han Byung-do, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 5th that he would submit a special prosecutor bill for the Central Election Commission (CEC) to the National Assembly this week.
The special probe bill is expected to include investigations into the circumstances behind the reduction in ballot paper printing volume, the omission and delay of reports to leadership on election day, and internal corruption and dereliction of duty within the CEC.
Han strongly criticized the assertion that the People Power Party should exclude the Democratic Party from the special prosecutor nomination process, calling it "political incitement and absurd." He added that for a special probe free from political advantage or disadvantage, third-party nominations from organizations like the Korean Bar Association would be more realistic and fair.
