KT, SKT Vie for Quantum Cryptography Market Leadership Ahead of AI Era

The security competition for the AI and 6G eras is heating up.

SK Telecom and KT have entered the market by participating in 'Quantum Korea 2026,' the nation's largest quantum technology event, to unveil their next-generation quantum cryptography technologies and solutions. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, is the largest of its kind in Korea, showcasing the present and future of quantum technology. Both companies highlighted the importance of quantum cryptography, considered the core of future security.

SK Telecom presented technologies under the theme 'Next-Generation Quantum Cryptography Security for the AI and 6G Eras,' signaling its focus on developing technologies that can respond to security threats in the AI and 6G eras.

KT organized its exhibition booth under the theme 'Where the Quantum Future Begins, KT,' introducing a range of wired and wireless quantum key distribution equipment manufactured by domestic companies using technology licensed from KT. Notably, the company shared achievements in advancing its proprietary implementation technology, including the verification of wireless quantum cryptography transmission technology over a distance of 4.8km last year.
