Busan's Buk-gu District 1 to Conduct Recount for City Council Race Decided by 26-Vote Margin
A recount to verify the vote count for the Busan Buk-gu District 1 city council election, where the winner was decided by a margin of just 26 votes, will proceed on the 23rd. The Busan Municipal Election Commission stated that the recount is scheduled for 1:30 PM to adjudicate the petition filed by Democratic Party candidate Moon Young-nam regarding the invalidation of the election.
In this district, People Power Party candidate Kang Young-doo won with 9,351 votes, defeating Moon, who received 9,325 votes, by a margin of 26 votes. However, as 1,421 votes were declared invalid out of approximately 49,000 total votes, a request was made to verify the tally.
This recount will be conducted via manual hand-counting of the ballots, and the costs associated with the recount will be borne by Moon, the candidate who filed the petition.
