U.S. Navy Suicide Drone Strikes Retired Amphibious Ship
The U.S. Navy's 3rd Fleet released footage on the 25th showing the retired amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu being struck and sunk by the unmanned surface vessel GARC. The exercise took place on the 17th off the coast of Hawaii as part of the multinational maritime exercise (RIMPAC).
The target for the sinking exercise, the USS Peleliu (a decommissioned Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship), was positioned approximately 93km off the northern coast of Kauai, Hawaii. The footage records the GARC, belonging to the U.S. Navy, ramming into the target vessel and successfully striking it.
