Rep. Jung Cheong-rae, a candidate for the Democratic Party leadership, stated that an apology may be necessary regarding National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik's remarks, which sparked discussions on constitutional amendments to allow for the extension of the incumbent president's term. During an appearance on CBS Radio's 'Park Sung-tae's News Show' today, Candidate Jung said that Speaker Cho likely made the comments in a manner that caused misunderstanding while talking with reporters. He added that an apology should be considered if necessary.

During an appearance on MBC's 'News Today' today, rival candidate Song Young-gil assessed that Speaker Cho's remarks were inappropriate and prone to misunderstanding.

Candidate Kim Min-seok drew a line on social media (X), stating that constitutional revision to allow the incumbent president to serve additional terms is unrealistic. Candidate Kim explained that presidential officials and the Presidential Office have repeatedly confirmed that it is unconstitutional under the current constitution. He further noted that since the speaker himself claimed it was a misunderstanding, it is not right to further fuel the controversy.
