AI Semiconductor Fears Subside... Exit from Bottom Acknowledged, but Outlook Uncertain
Asian stock markets rallied in unison, showing signs that the psychological anxiety holding back semiconductor investments is easing. Japan's Nikkei Index and the Taiwan Weighted Index rose by nearly 4% and 8% respectively, while shares in major semiconductor firms like Kioxia and TSMC surged by over 10%.
Experts assessed the rally across Asian markets as a confirmation of a bottom following the recent plunge in semiconductor stocks and a technical rebound.
Kim Seok-hwan, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, noted that this is a technical rebound following a nearly 40% decline from the peak, warning against becoming overly optimistic about the rise. Experts mentioned the possibility of continued market volatility amid concerns that the rise in memory chip prices could slow starting at the end of the year. Major global semiconductor firms, including AMD, are also scheduled to announce their earnings.
