Lawmaker Seo Beom-soo Referred to Party Ethics Committee

Seo Beom-soo, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, has been referred to the party's central ethics committee after drawing public outrage for making inappropriate remarks during a meeting with a crime victim.

Seo drew criticism for allegedly trivializing the 'Busan kick-boxing' case by telling a fellow lawmaker, "Shall we have a round of kickboxing?" before the victim of the case, who was attending a meeting hosted by lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, arrived.

In response, Floor Leader Chung Jin-sik issued a statement apologizing for the inappropriate conduct of the party's lawmaker and attempted to de-escalate the situation. Chung emphasized that the victim's plea should not be unilaterally interpreted as the issue being resolved, and the People Power Party intends to fight more fiercely for the restoration of prosecutorial supplementary investigation rights in accordance with the victim's wishes.
