Brokerages Intensify Competition to Attract Foreign Investors
Domestic brokerages are aggressively launching 'all-in-one accounts' for foreign investors, sparking fierce competition. As foreign investors' share of domestic stock trading approaches 30%, securities firms are intensifying their efforts to tap into overseas markets, with major players actively developing systems to attract these investors.
Hana Securities has completed its first transaction through an all-in-one account, marking a domestic first and strengthening its retail market competitiveness. Mirae Asset Securities has opened an all-in-one account in Singapore. Samsung Securities is collaborating with IBKR, and Kiwoom Securities is working with US fintech firm Webull to facilitate account openings. Meritz Securities also plans to launch its all-in-one account in the second half of this year.
Improved accessibility for foreign investors has led to increased trading volume and enhanced performance for related companies, establishing a structure for global liquidity to flow into the domestic capital market. Each brokerage is focusing on ensuring system stability and conducting overseas marketing in line with the government's market liberalization policies. Brokerages are expected to continue their platform competition amidst institutional support aimed at increasing capital market transparency.
