Rhyu Si-min: President Directly Picking Party Leader Is Path to Monarchy

Rhyu Si-min, a prominent pro-government commentator, criticized President Lee Jae-myung on the 24th, describing his attempt to handpick and elect the ruling party leader as 'a path to monarchy that goes against the spirit of a republic.'

Analyzing the results of the Democratic Party convention, Rhyu noted that 54% of party members voted for the President's preferred candidate, while 46% chose a non-mainstream candidate, concluding that 'the President has lost half of the Democratic Party membership.'

He pointed out that this provides numerical proof of internal divisions within the party.
