September 11 Employment Market Report: Rolex Is Hiring a Deputy Store Manager
Luxury boutiques and aerospace research labs are hiring at the same time. An analysis of job postings from dozens of companies collected through public data clearly shows the job market's center of gravity shifting toward high-value-added services and strategic technology industries. Luxury retail stood out as the single largest pillar.
Hiring Demand Converges on Luxury Retail
Postings by recruiting agencies featured a striking concentration of luxury brand openings. A listing by Humanist Co., Ltd. is representative, seeking a deputy store manager, sales associates, and OA (office support) staff for Rolex's first standalone flagship store in Korea. Louis Vuitton Korea also recruited sales associates across Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and nationwide, while Chaumet and FRED, jewelry brands of the LVMH Group, ran hiring for assistant manager and staff-level positions in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Notably, the deputy manager role was split into a separate posting. It is read as groundwork for putting both a management structure and a sales team in place at once ahead of a major store opening. It points to a phase in which demand for sales and management staff is growing structurally as luxury brands move beyond department store concessions to expand standalone stores and directly operated networks. In other words, the driver is network expansion, not a one-off increase in headcount.
Executive-Level Headhunting Emerges as the Main Hiring Channel
The second pattern shows up in who is behind the postings. Recruitment and headhunting firms such as RenewPeople, Raon Search, ManpowerSearch, and HR Global Network accounted for a sizable share of all listings. In terms of rank, experienced hires from assistant manager up to department head and director level overwhelmingly outnumbered entry-level open recruitment.
Specifically, headhunting was used to fill a compliance team leader and a finance and accounting director role at a foreign insurer, a research institute head at an ITS (intelligent transport systems) specialist, and an overseas sales team leader at a defense electronics company. Listings for a quality control (QC) role at a KOSDAQ-listed advanced chemicals firm and a manager-to-department-head implementation PM for data center development follow the same logic. The data plainly reflects companies choosing to secure professionals who can contribute immediately through specialized channels rather than spending on training to develop talent in-house.
Strategic Industries and K-Beauty: English Is Table Stakes
By industry, aerospace, defense, and beauty formed the biggest pillars. V Aerospace Co., Ltd. is hiring R&D staff in Incheon and Daejeon with its 2026 business in mind, and has also opened a management support Executive Assistant role. RenewPeople is recruiting both an overseas sales team leader for a defense electronics PCB (printed circuit board) maker and an English-speaking GM for a global game, while Maverick Consulting has launched a headhunt for a cybersecurity chief.
People can only become better to the extent that technology has advanced — George Orwell
An aerospace company locking in talent in advance with 2026 specifically targeted is putting that line into practice in reverse. It is gathering, first, the people who will push back the limits of technology.
In beauty, postings came in succession for a CMO and e-commerce leader at a clean, vegan beauty brand, a sales management role at a cosmetics ODM/OEM (contract manufacturing) company, and manager- and deputy general manager-level sales jobs at an ingredient manufacturer. A dermatology clinic near Yongsan Station also sought English-speaking estheticians and a consultation room manager — part of the same trend. It reads as a signal that even domestic service businesses have begun demanding staff on the premise of foreign customers and overseas markets. The fact that outsourced jobs such as customer center agents for a delivery platform and a cryptocurrency exchange were posted alongside recruitment for academy instructors and education administration shows the market still retains multiple tiers.
Job Market Outlook
The road ahead boils down to three points. First, as long as the expansion of luxury brands' directly operated stores continues, demand for sales and management staff should persist for the time being. Second, 2026-oriented hiring in national strategic technology fields such as aerospace and defense is expected to further intensify the competition for R&D talent into next year. Third, as experience-centered hiring becomes entrenched, the share of headhunting channels is likely to grow rather than shrink.
This structure, however, works to the disadvantage of job seekers without lateral moves or hands-on experience. With a market hardening in which job-specific experience determines pay and mobility, strategies for building expertise from the earliest stages of one's career are expected to matter more than ever.
