AI Value Investing Portfolio Grows Assets 9% in Just 5 Days on Semiconductor Rally

AI Value Investing Portfolio performance chart

U.S. markets rallied led by the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, which surged more than 4% in a single day. The Nasdaq rose 2.26% to surpass the 27,000 mark, while the S&P 500 closed up 1.49%. The won/dollar exchange rate fell sharply to the 1,361 range, signaling clear won strength. Amid this environment, the 'AI Value Investing Portfolio' is reaping the rewards of the bull market, with total assets of $15,441 and a return of 54.42% over initial capital. Over the past five days, assets grew roughly 9% from $14,186 to $15,441. In particular, the portfolio gained about $640 in a single day on the 18th, a testament to the Micron buy paying off.

Micron: a Bet on 'Extreme Undervaluation'

The heart of this portfolio is undoubtedly NVIDIA. Holding 26.6 shares bought at $184 versus a current price of $222, the position is up more than 20%. With a PER of 28x and a PEG of 0.47, valuation is not burdensome relative to growth. AMD has soared a full 2.8x, from a purchase price of $198 to $559. However, with the PER having expanded to 142x, it is time to assess whether the stock has entered high-valuation territory.

The stock to watch is Micron. With a PER of 22.9x and a PEG of 0.15, the share price remains significantly unreflected relative to growth. Backed by solid earnings of $44 in EPS and favorable HBM memory supply-demand conditions, the stock is judged to have substantial further upside. SOXL, a 3x leveraged semiconductor ETF, has surged 74% from a purchase price of $71 to the current $123. However, given the extreme daily volatility inherent in leveraged products, the portfolio has repeatedly taken profits and trimmed its position.

Micron0.42 shares$987.48$1,015.8022.9

The portfolio's recent trading can be summarized as a 'reduce leverage, increase individual stocks' strategy. On the 18th, the fund sold part of its SOXL holdings and used the proceeds to add to Micron, citing the HBM-driven memory supercycle and extreme undervaluation with a PEG of 0.14. Indeed, Micron rose 5.5% immediately after the buy, confirming the trend shift. In August, the portfolio reduced SOXL in four rounds to lock in profits and reallocated the funds into individual names such as Intel and NVIDIA. Intel, in particular, is trading modestly higher at $108 versus a purchase price of $104 amid expectations of an AI supply chain recovery; with EPS currently negative, whether earnings improve will be the key going forward. Meta's position was trimmed on concerns about competition in the advertising market, but the stock is still assessed to be in a reasonably valued range at a PER of 25x and a PEG of 0.88.

Between Liquidity Easing Hopes and Valuation Concerns

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield is trending down at 4.96%, while the VIX remains low at 14.66 — signs that risk appetite is alive and well. That said, oil is showing a bifurcated pattern, with WTI plunging 2.91% while Brent rises, and Bitcoin fell 1.61%, keeping the cryptocurrency market subdued. While semiconductor momentum remains strong, valuations on some stocks have expanded rapidly, and the balance between taking profits and uncovering newly undervalued names will likely determine future returns.
