AI Value Investing Portfolio Rides Semiconductor Boom to 65% Returns… Investment Report
KOSPI Holds Above 7,000 as 'AI Value Investing Portfolio' Stays Solid in the Mid-60s% Amid Semiconductor Strength
On the 2nd, the KOSPI closed at 7,003.74, up 0.46% from the previous session, comfortably clearing the 7,000 mark. With the Nasdaq up 1.19% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surging 2.40%, the AI Value Investing Portfolio—managed with a semiconductor focus—caught a tailwind. Against an initial capital of $10,000, the portfolio's return reached 65.27%, with total assets swelling to $16,527, fully capturing the fruits of the bull market.

Back on an Upward Trajectory After a Pause
The portfolio's asset curve caught its breath over the past five days before resuming its climb. Total assets, which stood at $16,519 on the 28th, pulled back to $16,243 between the 29th and 30th, but then reversed to four consecutive days of gains, recovering the previous high. The shallow pullback reflects a deliberate strategy: steadily trimming leveraged products and shifting the portfolio's weight toward undervalued individual stocks. With the VIX fear gauge falling 6.59% to 15.31, the psychological pressure on market flows has eased considerably.
The Semiconductor 'Big Picture' Remains Intact
A look at the holdings shows the portfolio riding the ups and downs of valuation. Nvidia, the portfolio's largest position, has been steadily bought at levels where valuation lagged growth, and with the stock now up to $230.86, it is generating substantial gains. The fact that its PEG ratio sits at just 0.48—high growth relative to its share price despite being a growth stock—underpins the bullish case.
Particularly notable is Micron. A modest P/E of 14.8x and an extremely cheap PEG of 0.16, combined with tight HBM and memory supply-demand conditions, have pushed the stock past the $1,000 mark. Broadcom, a broadband communications company, is also maintaining a mild uptrend with a PEG of 0.35, low relative to its growth.
AMD, by contrast, has seen its share price surge ahead of its earnings growth. A P/E of 156x rests on market expectations rather than earnings, making future proof of performance the key issue. Intel, despite still posting negative EPS, has climbed to $120 on expectations of an AI supply-chain reshuffle, and whether the company can deliver 'better-than-expected results' may determine its fate.

Trimming Leverage, Loading Up on Undervalued Names
Recent trading activity follows a clear principle. Even as the semiconductor sector's strength continued, the portfolio sold portions of SOXL in multiple tranches from early August into September, steadily reducing 3x-leverage volatility. The proceeds were not left sitting in cash but redeployed into undervalued individual stocks such as Micron and Broadcom. The additional Micron purchase on September 18 is a representative example. Even within the same sector rally, it is a strategic choice to pull the trigger based on individual companies' earnings and valuations rather than on leverage.

Rates Are a Variable, but the Trend Is Bullish
Amid the positive momentum, there are indicators to watch. The rise in the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield to 5.277% could weigh on growth-stock valuations. However, the won/dollar exchange rate falling 18.08 won to 1,342.51 on the day, along with oil prices not rising sharply, signals that inflationary pressure is not excessive. With reduced leverage exposure and a weight concentrated in undervalued semiconductor names, this portfolio's approach appears to offer considerable defensive resilience even in periods when rising rates and market volatility coincide.
