People Power Party (PPP) leader Jang Dong-hyuk criticized President Lee Jae-myung at the party's Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly on the 15th, saying the president visited Busan's North Port ('Bukangi') and took selfies while a woman attacked in the Incheon stabbing incident was in critical condition, showing indifference to citizens' lives. Jang said, "Despite pledging to respond to threats to citizens' lives to what would seem an excessive degree, in reality he is that indifferent and unresponsive." Jang pointed out, "When North Korean landmines exploded, he posted a few lines on social media and went to the United States, and when a Navy soldier went missing, he was at a golf course." He added that the president played golf with his family even after 38 elderly people were injured when the ceiling of a commercial building collapsed.

"He talked big about building a system that puts life and safety first, and now he even makes the absurd claim that golf courses are presidential workplaces," Jang scoffed, adding, "When citizens are in danger, he must stop his golf rounds, and when citizens are dying, he must not go sightseeing for sharks." He emphasized, "If he has neither the ability nor the will to protect them, he should step down from that position."

He also criticized the confirmation hearing for Kim Ji-yong, the nominee to head the Serious Crime Investigation Office, held the previous day. Jang said, "The hearing was nothing short of an absurd rubber-stamp review by his own camp," pointing out that "the nominee put on a tearful show of self-negation, pleading for recognition of his loyalty."

"The Serious Crime Investigation Office is effectively closed for business, leaving criminals the only winners while victims live in anxiety," he said. "And in this situation, there is no justice minister, while the police chief and anti-corruption chief remain in acting capacities." He went on to claim, "Before long, the presidency, too, will be run by an acting leader."
