All 2.47 Million Publicly Verified Ballots Completed Removal

The 2.47 million ballots from the June 3 local elections in the Songpa area, whose public verification by the National Election Commission's special investigation team has been completed, were fully removed from the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium in Songpa District, Seoul, on the 29th. The removal was finished 146 days after the ballots were transported there.

Under the Public Official Election Act, the ballots verified as valid will be stored by the election commission in a separate, secure warehouse designated in the Seoul metropolitan area for the duration of the winner's term.

The protesters' 'blockade of the public verification' sit-in, which has occupied the handball gymnasium used as the ballot-counting station for the Jamsil area since June 5, also appears set to end after nearly six months.
