Apple's Three iPads Set to Arrive En Masse in the First Half of 2027
Following the mini, the remaining three models will be refreshed in turn. Three Apple iPads are set to arrive in the first half of 2027. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicted in the Q&A section of his 'Power On' newsletter on November 1 (local time) that Apple will release three new models at once — the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and entry-level iPad — adding that there will be no major changes, such as new releases, in the second half of 2027. Gurman revealed the schedule just days after the iPad mini announcement. He is also reported to have written on X (formerly Twitter) that no new iPads will be released in the second half of 2027.
The next iPad Air is expected to switch to an OLED display. According to an April report from the Korean industry, Samsung Display will supply the panels, with mass production beginning in late 2026 or early 2027. In August, China's BOE reportedly bid for the position of second OLED panel supplier for the iPad Air. The OLED panel for the Air is said to use a single-emission-layer design rather than the Pro's two-layer structure to improve cost efficiency, and the 120Hz ProMotion feature may be dropped.
Gurman also explained that the next iPad Pro is highly likely to feature a vapor chamber cooling system to keep the device cool during gaming or high-intensity AI workloads.
This year's new iPad releases ended with the iPad mini, and the remaining three models now have outdated specs. The iPad Air, equipped with an M4 chip and LCD display, has been on sale since March 2026; the iPad Pro, with an M5 chip and OLED display, since October 2025; and the entry-level iPad, with an A16 chip and LCD display, since March 2025.
