If You Don't Bet 2.1 Quadrillion Won, You'll Be Left Behind in the Semiconductor Race

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said, "Semiconductor stocks have plunged in connection with the U.S. midterm elections, and the roller-coaster market conditions continue." He pointed to excess liquidity as the underlying cause.

He explained that with money flooding the market, even small shocks are amplified, and funds flow out even faster during periods of correction.

Against this backdrop, what he emphasized was investment. Despite the sharp drop in semiconductor-related stocks following the U.S. midterm elections, Chairman Chey said that without betting on 2,100 trillion won in semiconductor investment, there is no way to catch up with competitors, and companies will inevitably fall behind in global competition.
