President Lee Jae-myung held a summit with Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta at the presidential office on the morning of the 6th, discussing ways to expand cooperation in diplomacy and security, climate change, education, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as regional situations and other international issues.

The luncheon featured Korean cuisine reflecting the culinary cultures of both countries, along with Timor-Leste's 'Ermera coffee.' Taking into account President Ramos-Horta's tastes and health, President Lee planned to present a collection of botanical illustrations of rare Korean native plants, a set of espresso cups, and red ginseng.

Presidential office spokesperson Kim Sung-wan explained in a written briefing, "President Ramos-Horta's visit to Korea will serve as an opportunity to further expand and deepen substantive cooperation," adding, "It will be a chance for Korea, as a nation committed to global responsibility, to expand its contributions to Timor-Leste's sustainable development and to peace and prosperity in the region." President Lee expressed his intention for the two countries to work more closely together for regional peace and prosperity, noting that Timor-Leste joined ASEAN last year.
