President Lee Jae-myung Dismisses Re-election Constitutional Amendment: 'There Will Absolutely Be No Extension of My Term'

President Lee Jae-myung, during a state visit to Mexico on the 24th (local time), once again dismissed the possibility of a constitutional amendment to allow his re-election, saying, "There will absolutely be no going past June 2, 2030." His remarks at a meeting with Korean residents came as part of his state visit itinerary.

At the same gathering that day, President Lee said of his approach to pushing reforms: "If you go too fast, too far, or too hastily, you face a backlash," adding, "We must minimize resistance and opposition to achieve substantive results."

Earlier that day, President Lee shook hands with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum during a joint press conference held at the presidential palace in Mexico City.
