People Power Party lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae dismissed National Assembly Vice Speaker Park Deuk-heum’s apology related to martial law as empty words. On the 21st, during a National Assembly Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, Maritime and Fisheries Committee meeting and on Channel A’s radio show “Political Signal,” Rep. Cho criticized the apology, saying, “Even a passing cow would laugh.” He clarified his stance that a person who endorsed rebellion cannot sit in the constitutionally second-highest position in the National Assembly and lacks the qualifications to serve as Vice Speaker.

Rep. Cho also continued to criticize lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo’s remarks regarding party leader Han Dong-hoon, questioning whether they were driven by emotion.

In the same interview, Rep. Cho did not hold back his attacks on party leader Jang Dong-hyuk. He raised issues about Jang’s failure to honor his resignation pledge following the recent general election defeat and his relationship with former President Yoon Suk-yeol, arguing that he is unqualified to lead the party. The breach of the resignation pledge after defeat and remarks about cutting ties with the ringleader of the rebellion are cited as grounds for requesting disciplinary action by the Ethics Committee.

Amid this, Rep. Cho Kyung-tae is currently under review by the Ethics Committee as the requester in a case calling for Jang Dong-hyuk’s expulsion and party membership removal. His calls for intra-party reform and the leadership’s disciplinary rationale are clashing, drawing attention to potential shifts in the party’s internal power dynamics.
