Lee Jin-sook, former Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission, who was cut from the Daegu mayoral primary, dismissed rumors of her running for Gyeonggi Governor, stating she has "absolutely no intention." Appearing on TV Chosun's YouTube channel on the 25th, Lee said regarding discussions about drafting her as a Gyeonggi gubernatorial candidate, "To aim for the Gyeonggi Governor candidacy solely based on name recognition is a mockery of Gyeonggi residents and a contempt for democratic procedures," adding that she would not be heading to Gyeonggi. Kim Dong-won, Lee Jin-sook's preliminary candidate support team leader, also stated on the YouTube channel that applying for the Gyeonggi gubernatorial candidacy is "100% not happening."

Within the party, there is a sentiment that views Lee as a 'powerful card' and discusses her as a Gyeonggi gubernatorial candidate. Cho Kwang-han, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, appeared on YTN Radio on the 26th and expressed his anticipation, saying, "It would be a very meaningful situation if Lee Jin-sook were to step forward and say, 'I will leave Daegu and try in Gyeonggi.'" The People Power Party is experiencing difficulty finding candidates for Gyeonggi Governor. Although Lee Jin-sook has stated she has no intention of running for Gyeonggi Governor, Supreme Council member Cho Kwang-han made remarks suggesting she could be considered as a candidate.

Lee is currently focusing on reversing the decision to cut her from the Daegu mayoral race rather than running for Gyeonggi Governor. She requested a meeting with Lee Jung-hyun, the nomination management committee chairman, stating she was cut despite ranking first in opinion polls.

Meanwhile, Representative Joo Ho-young has filed an injunction with the court regarding the nomination exclusion.
