Osan City Requests Management Transfer of Ministry-Owned Land for Police Station Site
Osan City requested cooperation on the 6th from the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee for the management transfer of a Ministry of Economy and Finance-owned site within Segyo 2 New Town, which it intends to use as a relocation site for a police district unit. Segyo 2 New Town is not yet sufficiently equipped with public infrastructure, including police facilities.
On April 6, 2026, Osan Mayor Lee Gwon-jae visited the National Assembly Building for a meeting with Strategy and Finance Committee Chairperson Lee Im-ja and lawmaker Park Soo-young. He argued that the management transfer of reserve property is urgent to resolve the lack of living and safety infrastructure for residents of Segyo 2 New Town. Mayor Lee urged active cooperation from the National Assembly to ensure residents can quickly benefit from the establishment of a new district police station.
Chairperson Lee Im-ja and lawmaker Park Soo-young expressed their understanding of the importance of local government ensuring public safety and balanced development. They pledged to actively convey Osan City's views to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and to meticulously review the matter as the entity responsible for the site's management transfer.
