Namyangju Stalking Murder Suspect Kim Hun Indicted After Arrest
Kim Hun, the suspect in the Namyangju stalking murder case, has been arrested and indicted on charges of secretly attaching a tracking device to the victim's vehicle and pre-planning his escape route. Prosecutors have applied charges including retaliatory murder.
Although the victim woman had changed her workplace to avoid Kim Hun, investigations found that he had personally scouted her new office and home surroundings for about ten days prior to the crime. A tracking device was discovered inside a metal structure under the rear bumper of the SUV the victim was in when she died, and it emerged that an accomplice was involved in attaching the device to the acquaintance's vehicle.
The escape plan was also meticulously prepared. Kim Hun tinted the rental car he intended to use for the crime beforehand to prevent identification, and immediately after committing the offense, he cut off his electronic ankle monitor and fled in the vehicle using a temporary license plate he had prepared. It was also confirmed that he had searched his mobile phone for 'how to avoid electronic ankle monitor tracking'.
Flaws in the police response were also reconfirmed during the investigation. Before being murdered, the victim woman reported to the police twice that a suspected tracking device had been found in her car, but the police did not arrest or detain Kim Hun, citing the need to wait for the results of the National Forensic Service's analysis. Despite searching the victim's vehicle twice immediately after arresting Kim Hun, police stated there was no tracking device, but the device was found during the prosecution's investigation.
Kim Hun scored 33 out of 40 points on the psychopathy diagnostic test, significantly exceeding the evaluation standard of 25.
