Kang Gye-yeol, 102, Passes Away
Kang Gye-yeol, the protagonist of the documentary film 'My Love, Don't Cross the River' that deeply resonated with many, passed away on the 10th at the age of 102.
Director Jin Mo-young, who helmed 'My Love, Don't Cross the River,' announced the passing of the late Kang Gye-yeol on his Facebook page on the 10th, sharing a photo of her. Director Jin last visited Kang on March 31st. He mentioned first meeting her on September 9, 2012.
The memorial altar for Kang Gye-yeol has been set up at the funeral hall of Wonju Medical Center, with the funeral procession scheduled for 7:45 AM on the 12th. Her final resting place will be her family cemetery in Cheongil-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon Province.
Released in 2014, the documentary 'My Love, Don't Cross the River' chronicled the lives of Kang Gye-yeol and her husband Jo Byung-man, who lived in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, attracting 4.8 million viewers.
