US Residents Queue Overnight for Free Medical Care Amid Soaring Costs

Due to the burden of high medical costs, Americans without insurance are lining up overnight or sleeping in their cars to receive free medical treatment. This shows that an increasing number of people are unable to receive necessary treatment on time.

Health insurance policies during the Donald Trump administration resulted in an increase in the number of Americans unable to get insurance coverage. As a result, the cost of treatment for certain diseases has skyrocketed to unaffordable levels, and access to medical services for the uninsured has become more limited.

Some Americans are waiting for several days to access free clinics. Some patients were able to receive free medical services provided by volunteer organizations like Remote Area Medical (RAM) after spending several days sleeping in their cars. RAM is a nonprofit organization that provides care free of charge to uninsured American patients. Founded in 1985, the Tennessee-based RAM assists those with limited access to healthcare through medical professionals who volunteer from across the country.

One patient drove 200 miles for a dental check-up, arriving at 4:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and waiting until 5 a.m. on Friday, spending two nights in their car. RAM provides rapid treatment, including dental prosthetics made with 3D printing technology. 22-year-old engineer Connor Gibson explained that he can create new teeth for patients within an hour using computer design. He noted that patients are often moved to tears when they see their new teeth for the first time. The previously mentioned patient also expressed their gratitude with tears welling up as they looked at their reflection.

RAM CEO Chris Hall stated that the organization provides free services across the United States, with all services offered on a first-come, first-served basis. He attributed the success of these operations to a dedicated team of volunteers and professionals. RAM offers dental care, comprehensive eye exams and glasses, and prosthetic services, with approximately 60% of patients receiving dental treatment and 30-35% receiving vision-related care. Recently, the organization has expanded its services to include women's health screenings, general health check-ups, and sports physicals.
