Lawmaker Lee Kang-il Accused of Leaking Party Roster, Providing Election App
Lawmaker Lee Kang-il has been sued by Cheongju City Councilor Kim Sung-taek amid allegations of leaking the party member roster and providing an election app during the Democratic Party of Korea's primary for the Cheongju Sangdang-gu local council.
Cheongju City Councilor Kim Sung-taek stated that the complaint was initiated by a Facebook post from Rep. Lee stating, 'well-taught comrades how to swap party members.' Kim announced he filed a police complaint against Lee on charges of violating the Personal Information Protection Act, the Political Parties Act, and the Public Official Election Act. The core of the complaint is the assertion that Lawmaker Lee Kang-il leaked the party member roster and provided an election app exclusively to a specific candidate.
Councilor Kim pointed out that the app classifies supporter tendencies and collects personal information to Lawmaker Lee's server. He noted that providing it freely would constitute a prohibition on donation acts, while providing it for a fee would raise conflict of interest issues.
