KFTC Strikes Deal with 11 Companies on Sanitary Product Price Stability
The Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) announced on the 14th that it signed an agreement with 11 companies to stabilize the prices of sanitary products. Through this pact, consumers purchasing essential hygiene items such as sanitary pads will be clearly informed of any changes in product capacity or composition, allowing them to make purchasing decisions with confidence.
The 11 companies participating in the agreement are Kookje Pharma, Mirae Life, AJ, LG H H Corp, Woosil C&Tech, Wellchron Healthcare, Wellkeeps Consumer, Yuhan-Kimberly, Jtronics, P&G Korea, and Suomi of Lake Country. Under the agreement, these companies must notify consumers of any reduction exceeding 5% in product volume, specifications, weight, or quantity for at least three months through product packaging labels, company websites, or point-of-sale displays.
The KFTC previously revised its 'Designation Notice on Unfair Consumer Transaction Practices by Businesses' to mandate such information disclosure. Joo Byung-ki, a commissioner at the Fair Trade Commission, stated that consumers' awareness of reduced product specifications significantly impacts a company's image.
