The disappearance of retired Air Force Maj. Gen. William McCasland, who oversaw classified research programs, coupled with the deaths and disappearances of other scientists, has triggered a full-scale White House investigation.

The 68-year-old retired Air Force Major General, William 'Neil' McCasland, was once responsible for overseeing some of the most advanced secret research programs for the U.S. military and government. McCasland's cellphone was left behind, but his wallet and a .38-caliber revolver were confirmed missing.

McCasland's disappearance is one of ten deaths or disappearances of scientists linked to military and government research over the past three years.

President Donald Trump told reporters, "I hope it's a random act, but we're going to find out in the next week and a half." He added, "I just finished a meeting on that subject."
