President Requests Commencement of Special Inspector Appointment Process
President Lee Jae-myung has officially requested the National Assembly to commence the appointment process for a special inspector.
Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik explained, "It is the President's judgment that a special inspector is necessary under the principles of democracy and popular sovereignty, which hold that all power must be subject to institutional oversight."
Under current law, the National Assembly must first go through a written recommendation process for the appointment. He added that with the President having expressed his intent, the expectation is that the National Assembly will promptly initiate the relevant procedures.
