Jeong Cheong-rae, leader of the Democratic Party, criticized People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk's U.S. itinerary, asking, 'Did you wait with bated breath to meet a deputy assistant secretary, not even a minister or vice minister?' Jeong, speaking via Facebook on the 20th, referenced media reports that Jang met with a U.S. Department of State deputy assistant secretary, adding, 'Aren't you ashamed of yourselves? It's another party's business, but it's embarrassing.'

The People Power Party announced that Jang Dong-hyuk's 8-day, 10-night trip to the U.S. included three key events: a meeting with a U.S. Department of State deputy assistant secretary, an interview with NK News, a media outlet specializing in North Korea, and a meeting with Republican Congressman Randy Fine. Jang departed on the 14th and extended his schedule after receiving contact from the U.S. State Department.

Jang and Kim Min-su, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, returned early on the 20th and are scheduled to hold a press conference at the National Assembly at 11 a.m. to explain the achievements of their U.S. visit.
