Trump Rejects Energy Secretary's Gas Price Forecast, Calls It 'Completely Wrong'
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the Energy Department secretary's forecast for gasoline prices is inaccurate. President Trump directly called the prediction "wrong" and shared his own opinion.
When asked about Energy Secretary Chris Wright's remarks during a phone interview with The Hill, a congressional news outlet, President Trump said, "I think he's wrong. Completely wrong." Energy Secretary Wright had stated on CNN the previous day that gasoline prices in the U.S. might not return to below $3 per gallon until the end of this year, or possibly not until next year.
Currently, the average price of gasoline in the U.S. is in the $4.10s per gallon. Prices, which were in the $2.90s per gallon in February, have surged by over 40% since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict. The president's public and direct refutation of a cabinet secretary's statement has been evaluated as an unusual occurrence.
