National Assembly Approves Bills Supporting Jeonse Scam Victims and Establishing National Medical Graduate School
The National Assembly passed 115 agenda items, including provisions to partially support rental deposits for jeonse scam victims and establish a national graduate school of medicine, during its plenary session on the 23rd.
The 'Special Act on Support for Jeonse Scam Victims and Housing Stability Amendment' was passed at the 7th plenary session of the 434th National Assembly (extraordinary session) held on this day. The amendment introduces a system to provide partial rental deposit support as a minimum guaranteed amount, aiming to reduce disparities in damage recovery during the process of purchasing homes affected by jeonse scams. The amendment stipulates support for the shortfall if the sum of amounts received through exercising the right of opposition and preferential payment, repayment of rental deposit claims, and auction profits falls short of one-third of the rental deposit. Victims of jeonse scams can apply for an advance payment of all or part of this minimum guaranteed amount.
Furthermore, the 'Act on the Establishment and Operation of the National Graduate School of Medicine,' aimed at training public health medical personnel, was passed, laying the groundwork for the establishment and operation of a national graduate school of medicine.
Among other legislative measures, the 'Act on Medical Accident Relief and Mediation of Medical Disputes Amendment,' which aims to strengthen patient rights in the event of medical accidents and introduce a compensation program and special criminal provisions for essential medical personnel in cases of medical accidents, was also approved.
