Former President Yoon Suk-yeol Sentenced in Appeal for Obstruction of Official Duties
Former President Yoon Suk-yeol has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the appellate court on charges of issuing unlawful orders to public officials to help his elder brother's election campaign.
The Seoul High Court's special court for rebellion cases, in its appeals ruling on April 29, handed down a seven-year prison sentence, two years longer than the initial ruling. The court overturned its first-instance decision, finding the defendant guilty of charges related to mobilizing security personnel and infringing upon the deliberative rights of cabinet members.
Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's side immediately protested the ruling, stating they would appeal to the Supreme Court to contest the verdict.
