Woman Cleared After Charges Dropped in Case of Social Media Post Targeting Trump
A woman who was indicted on charges of making threatening posts on social media aimed at former U.S. President Donald Trump has been cleared by prosecutors. The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office closed the case, citing reasons such as the woman, Morgan Morrow, not being properly informed of her rights during the investigation after her arrest. Morrow's attorney, Mark Atkinson, stated regarding the decision to drop charges, "This case should never have been brought in the first place."
According to the indictment, the statement posted by Morgan Morrow on TikTok read, "A sniper with a terminal illness could not ask for much more out of 343 million people." In an investigation after being read her Miranda rights, Morgan Morrow stated that she authored and posted the statement and intended it as a threat against the President.
A spokesperson for the Jackson County Public Library confirmed that Morrow no longer works at the library.
