Bill Banning AI-Generated Fake Expert Ads Passes National Assembly
Advertisements for food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals by 'fake experts' who impersonate professionals using artificial intelligence (AI) will be banned. Measures to prevent consumer harm are being strengthened as related legislation passes the National Assembly's plenary session.
Five legislative amendments under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety have passed the National Assembly's plenary session, a measure intended to preemptively block consumer harm resulting from the advancement of AI technology.
Through these amendments, the 'Act on Labeling and Advertising of Food, etc.', the 'Cosmetic Act', and the 'Pharmaceutical Affairs Act' will be revised to regulate advertisements where AI is used to impersonate professionals.
An amendment to the 'Food Sanitation Act' enhances the safety of food for patients by imposing obligations on manufacturers and processors of special medical-use foods, such as patient meals, to designate a hygiene management supervisor and report product manufacturing in advance.
