Incumbent local councilors, who were excluded from the People Power Party's nominations, are revolting by leaving the party en masse, raising suspicions of 'abuse of nomination power'.

In Sacheon City Council, a nominated incumbent local councilor held a press conference to raise suspicions of unfair nomination practices by Rep. Seo Cheon-ho, the local National Assembly member. They claimed that publicly released transcripts indicated that Rep. Seo received 20 million won in illegal political funds from a local businessman during the last general election and that 5 million won was delivered under the guise of creating public opinion for nomination. Rep. Seo's side stated that National Assembly members have no authority in the decision-making process for local council nominations.

In Sancheong County, all seven incumbent county councilors were dropped from nominations. They declared the decision unfair and arbitrary by local National Assembly member Shin Seong-beom and demanded the disclosure of nomination criteria. Following their collective departure from the party, they announced plans to run as independents. Rep. Shin's side has not issued a clear statement.
