Samsung Biologics Faces Crisis Amid Company's First-Ever Strike
Samsung Biologics has entered a full-scale strike for the first time since its founding. This strike could affect the company's business performance and external image.
The union is demanding a wage increase of over 21.3%, including a 14.3% raise in base pay and a fixed 3.5 million won increase, performance bonuses equivalent to 20% of operating profit, and a 30 million won incentive payment per person.
The company, citing the global economic downturn and large-scale facility investment costs, stated that it is difficult to accept the union's demands, proposing a 6.2% wage increase and a lump-sum payment of 6 million won.
Negotiations were held 13 times from December last year to March of this year, but no agreement was reached, leading to the strike.
