The criteria for selecting recipients and the application methods for the second round of relief payments for small business owners and others struggling due to high oil prices will be announced on the 11th. The government will reveal the criteria and application procedures for the second round of payments on the 11th, and will accept applications from the 18th to July 3rd.

The second round of payments will target the bottom 70% of the total population based on income, with payments of 100,000 won per person for residents of the Seoul metropolitan area and 150,000 won for residents outside the metropolitan area. Residents in preferential support areas within depopulating regions will receive 200,000 won, and residents in special support areas will receive 250,000 won, respectively.

It is understood that the government will utilize the criteria based on the sum of national health insurance premium contributions, which was applied during the second round of livelihood recovery consumer coupon payments last year. Plans are also being made to establish criteria to exclude households with high financial assets or real estate from eligibility. There are also separate criteria reflecting the characteristics of single-person households and provisions for special treatment for dual-income households.

Meanwhile, applications for the first round of support payments targeting basic livelihood security recipients, the near-poor, and single-parent families closed on the 8th, with a first-round payment rate of 91.2%.
