The Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency has arrested a man in his 40s, identified as A, for delivering a total of 130 million won, including cash and six gold bars, to a voice phishing criminal organization, and has transferred the case to prosecutors. Mr. A is accused of violating the special act designed to prevent financial fraud committed via electronic communication and to facilitate the refund of victim funds.

Mr. A is suspected of receiving approximately 130 million won worth of cash and six gold bars from two victims last month. The victims had received calls from a voice phishing group impersonating employees of the Financial Supervisory Service and prosecutors. They were allegedly tricked into handing over the valuables under the pretense that their accounts might be implicated in a crime related to 'card delivery.'

Police apprehended Mr. A under emergency measures at a lodging facility in Gyeonggi Province, tracking him through CCTV footage. They also seized an additional five gold bars, valued at approximately 46 million won, which were apparently intended for use in further criminal activities.

Police urged the public to exercise caution, stating, 'Never respond to calls regarding unsolicited card deliveries, and law enforcement agencies will never demand cash or gold bars under any circumstances.'
