Foreign Ministry Awards 37 Staff for Middle East Crisis Response

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 13th that it awarded a total of 45.5 million won in bonuses to 37 employees for their outstanding performance in duties such as protecting overseas nationals amid the crisis in the Middle East. The awards included staff from 13 diplomatic missions in the Middle East and the ministry's Overseas Crisis Management Division.

These employees were tasked with supporting the safe evacuation and return of over 6,600 citizens amidst the war. Approximately 21,000 Korean nationals were staying in the Middle East region before the war broke out.

With direct and indirect support from the government, about 8,000 people were safely evacuated or returned home. To date, no cases of direct harm to Korean citizens related to the Middle East crisis have been reported.
