Kim Min-soo Warns Party Lawmakers of Post-Election Punishment for Backing Han Dong-hoon
Kim Min-soo, co-chair of the People Power Party's joint election committee, has warned lawmakers within the party who support independent candidate Han Dong-hoon that they could face punishment after the election, deemed 'acts of treason'.
Kim stated that clear accountability would be demanded from party members supporting the independent candidate Han, who is not the party's official nominee. He urged for party unity during the remaining campaign period and called on them not to express support contrary to the party's official stance.
Kim Min-soo's remarks are interpreted as a response to the current situation where independent candidate Han Dong-hoon is pressuring People Power Party candidate Park Min-sik for unification, claiming 'public sentiment superiority,' amidst a trend where Democratic Party candidate Ha Jung-woo is generally leading. Earlier this month, party leader Jang Dong-hyuk had also implicitly warned pro-Han factions, emphasizing the roles and responsibilities of lawmakers who received party nominations, and suggested necessary measures would be taken after confirming the facts.
