73 Candidates Post Videos Exposing Personal Information Unprotected
Videos posted on the official YouTube channels of election candidates are raising concerns about personal information infringement, with the faces of ordinary citizens and vehicle license plates being exposed. These videos could infringe on the privacy of not only the candidates themselves but also citizens inadvertently captured on camera, necessitating caution.
A privacy research institute, 'Bloomy Privacy Lab,' operated by AI video processing specialist ZaraSoft, conducted its own survey from April 18 to 21 targeting candidates running in the 16 provincial governor elections (54 candidates) and the National Assembly by-elections (47 candidates) nationwide.
The survey results revealed that 41 candidates for provincial governor and 32 candidates for National Assembly by-elections posted videos on their official YouTube accounts that included pedestrians' faces or vehicle license plates. Of these, 37 provincial governor candidate accounts (90.2%) and 26 National Assembly candidate accounts (81.3%) had not implemented any de-identification measures, such as mosaic or blurring, for personal information protection.
Cases where pedestrians' faces were clearly identifiable were exposed, including instances where the faces of infants and children were posted without de-identification. License plates of passing vehicles were also confirmed to be clearly visible.
