Oh Se-hoon, the candidate for Seoul mayor from the People Power Party, on the 29th protested the police's search and seizure operation at Seoul City Hall related to the Seosomun overpass collapse incident, alleging it was an 'ordered investigation by President Lee Jae-myung' and raising suspicions of election interference. Speaking at an emergency press conference at his election office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Oh claimed the action was a 'barbaric outrage that even dictatorships would not dare commit' and a 'blatant election intervention using power, a clear election manipulation.' He also sarcastically remarked, 'Search every trash can in Seoul,' criticizing the 'unreasonable forced investigation' conducted during the time when countermeasures for the accident were being prepared.

Oh pointed to Lee Jae-myung, who was then the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, ordering 'swift fact-finding and strict accountability' regarding the accident and the reinforcement bar omission incident at GTX-A Samsung Station during a meeting of senior secretaries the previous day as the basis for his claim of an 'ordered investigation.'

Addressing his rival, Chung Won-shik, the Democratic Party's candidate for Seoul mayor, Oh criticized, 'An election where you hide behind the President and hide behind investigative agencies is deeply shameful for a candidate,' urging for a fair electoral contest.

The police search and seizure operation related to the Seosomun overpass collapse and Oh Se-hoon's allegations of an 'ordered investigation' have emerged as a key issue in the June 3rd local elections, heightening tension in the election landscape and are expected to intensify inter-party conflict throughout the upcoming prosecutorial investigations and the election process.
