Independent research firm PinLit analyzed that Doosan Robotics is evolving beyond being a mere collaborative robot manufacturer into an artificial intelligence (AI) operating platform company that powers robots.

Doosan Robotics is expanding its business model by securing mid- to long-term growth engines through its integration with Nvidia's AI ecosystem and expansion into the North American automation market. The acquisition of U.S. automation solutions firm ONExia strengthens its push into the North American market, which is expected to be a turning point in expanding its scope from selling individual robot arms to supplying complete automation systems as turnkey solutions. By integrating its proprietary solutions, 'Scan & Go' and 'Dart Suite,' with Nvidia's 'Isaac Sim' and 'Q-Motion,' the company is laying the groundwork for its entry into the humanoid robot market and shifting from being a simple hardware supplier to a platform company.

Doosan Robotics' revenue for the first quarter of this year reached 15.3 billion won, an increase of 189.6% year-on-year, but operating losses continued due to AI investments and expansion costs in North America. The consolidation effect of acquiring U.S. automation solutions firm ONExia accelerated top-line growth. Although the gross profit margin (GPM) improved to 28.3%, operating losses persisted due to investments in AI and expansion costs in North America.

PinLit's researcher stated that the first signs of top-line growth and profitability recovery have been confirmed. The firm analyzed that the key focus moving forward will be whether the order backlog can be converted into actual sales.
