Shin Jang-sik Proposes 'National Governance One-Team Platform' to Democratic Party, Urges Prosecution Reform Completion Before Constitution Day
Shin Jang-sik, acting leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, has proposed the formation of a 'National Governance One-Team Platform' to the Democratic Party, urging the completion of prosecution reform before Constitution Day. Speaking at a press conference at the National Assembly on the 21st, Shin stated that the proposal is based on the principle of "Solidarity is essential, merger is optional," aiming to consolidate the capabilities of the entire progressive and reformist camp into a 'National Governance One-Team Platform'.
He stressed that prosecution reform must be concluded before Constitution Day (July 17th), criticizing some concerns that the Democratic Party might postpone the reform until after its national convention. Shin argued that since the President has left the discussion on the prosecution's supplementary investigation authority to the National Assembly, there is no reason to wait for the formation of the Assembly's committees or for multiple proposals from the Prime Minister's Office's prosecution reform task force.
Shin, the acting leader, also presented tasks for livelihood reform, including revising real estate windfall profit taxes, re-promoting the introduction of financial investment income tax, preparing measures to resolve the rent crisis, and devising ways to utilize special semiconductor tax revenue. He called for a leading role from the National Assembly once the Innovation Party's national convention concludes.
