UK Accelerates Development of Indigenously Developed Long-Range Missile
The UK is speeding up the development of new long-range missiles using its own technology. These missiles are expected to have lower production costs and reduced reliance on U.S. components compared to the existing 'Storm Shadow' missile.
The UK Ministry of Defence, which is developing three types of long-range missiles through 'Project Broadsword,' recently conducted launch tests.
The Ministry of Defence has requested defence companies, including those that produce the Storm Shadow, to develop missiles capable of striking targets 500km away with a 225kg warhead at a cost of £400,000 per missile (approximately 810 million Korean won). Furthermore, it stipulated that the missiles developed must be free from U.S. government regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
