Woojin Electric Vehicle to Develop Low-Floor Electric Bus, Investing 10.1 Billion Won
Woojin Electric Vehicle is launching the development of next-generation eco-friendly electric low-floor seated buses with an investment of 10.1 billion won. This project, supported by government funding, will span approximately five years until 2030, focusing on three core technologies: an AI-based battery management system, 800V Silicon Carbide (SiC) power modules, and the establishment of a wide-area low-floor bus platform. Universal design features to enhance wheelchair accessibility and cybersecurity technology will also be applied.
Through this initiative, Woojin Electric Vehicle aims to secure competitiveness in the future automotive supply chain and strengthen its technological self-reliance by localizing key components such as batteries and power modules, which currently have a high degree of foreign dependency.
Woojin Electric Vehicle has established an electric bus lineup at its Gimcheon plant, which began operations in March 2024, ranging from 9-meter village buses to 12-meter charter buses, and has also prepared a mass production system for hydrogen electric buses.
