80% of Travel Agencies Use AI Regularly for Work
Eight out of ten travel agency employees are regularly utilizing 'Artificial Intelligence (AI)' for their work, according to recent findings. AI is rapidly being adopted as a support tool for tasks such as email drafting and translation. ChatGPT was the most widely used AI tool at 82.4%, followed by Gemini (64.7%), Claude (30.6%), and Perplexity (7.1%), indicating that various latest platforms are being used in conjunction.
The reduction in working hours due to the introduction of AI was also distinct. A whopping 83.3% of respondents reported feeling that their work hours had decreased. Regarding daily time saved, 30.4% reported saving between 30 minutes and an hour—the most common response—followed by 1-2 hours (25.3%) and over 2 hours (21.5%). Employees are also sensing a performance gap based on AI proficiency; 22.5% stated that a clear disparity has already emerged, while 57.5% noted that a gap is gradually developing.
Regarding AI-generated content, the most common approach was to verify facts and reference only necessary parts (39%) rather than using the output directly. The primary concern regarding AI usage was the potential inaccuracy of recent information, cited by 62.2%. This was followed by errors in detailed information such as travel products, rates, and regulations (45.1%), and difficulties in verifying sources (41.5%).
Corporate support for adopting the latest AI technology remains insufficient. Only 47.5% of respondents stated that their company provides paid AI accounts or work-specific AI tools, while the largest group (48.8%) reported a lack of official guidelines. Employees cited practical AI training (55%) and the provision of example prompts (commands) specific to travel tasks (43.8%) as priority support needs.
