Didimdol Loan Applications Resume in Seoul

In the first half of this year, 30-somethings purchased 4 out of every 10 apartment sales in Seoul, marking the highest proportion since related statistics began in 2019. Nationwide, 30-somethings accounted for 31.2% of apartment purchases, the largest share among all age groups.

Among Seoul's districts, Yeongdeungpo-gu saw the highest proportion of 30-something buyers at 51.4%, followed by Gangseo-gu (49.7%) and Dongdaemun-gu (47.9%). Conversely, areas with a high concentration of expensive apartments, such as Gangnam-gu (25.8%), Seongdong-gu (26.1%), and Seocho-gu (27.5%), showed relatively lower purchase rates by this age group.

According to the Seoul Real Estate Information Plaza, apartment transactions in Seoul totaled 5,244 units in June.

President Lee Jae-myung has ordered a comprehensive review of disadvantages related to marriage concerning loans, housing subscriptions, and taxes. In response, the government has prepared support measures, including revising income requirements for newlyweds who were previously excluded from policy loans due to combined income calculations. These measures aim to alleviate housing-related restrictions due to marital status and include expanded acquisition tax reductions for first-time homebuyers and households with newborns, as well as guaranteed separate special housing supply subscription opportunities for married couples.
