Rep. Jeon Jin-suk: 'Allegations of Illegal Phone Bank by Jeong Cheong-rae Side a Political Trap'

Rep. Jeon Jin-suk of the Democratic Party stated on the 12th that she would hold close aides of Democratic Party leadership candidate Jeong Cheong-rae legally accountable, claiming they engaged in a deliberate political scheme by setting a trap with leading questions targeting youth volunteers.

Rep. Jeon criticized the act, asserting that the candidate's inner circle staged a trap by asking leading questions to frame the volunteers as engaging in paid work, labeling routine campaigning as an illegal phone bank operation.

The Jeong Cheong-rae camp had claimed through a media statement the previous day that Rep. Jeon operated an illegal phone bank at her office in the Buk-gu-eul district committee of Gwangju and Jeonnam, promising monetary rewards. Rep. Jeon clarified that the individual in the released transcript was a youth volunteer supporting candidate Kim Min-seok, and that the call was simply a response to an incoming call from an unknown number.
