President Lee Jae-myung to Communicate Directly with the Public Through YouTube
Cheong Wa Dae announced on the 4th that President Lee Jae-myung will launch a YouTube program, 'The President's Y,' to communicate directly with the public. Sung Ki-hong, Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations and Communication, explained, "President Lee has held 23 press conferences and other events since taking office and has consistently communicated through social media as well," adding, "This program has been prepared to broaden channels of communication through YouTube, a new platform." In other words, it is an extension of his existing communication methods.
The name 'The President's Y' combines the first letter of 'YouTube' with the meaning of 'Why.' Former MBC announcer Son Jung-eun will serve as the host. Each episode will run about 30 minutes and is planned to air regularly at intervals of two to three weeks. While it will start as a recorded program, Cheong Wa Dae said there is a possibility it could switch to live broadcasts at any time.
President Lee completed the first recording on the 4th. According to Cheong Wa Dae, the first episode covers his philosophy on communication, his use of social media, and his position on the various opinions surrounding the live broadcast of Cabinet meetings. Sung said, "Unlike remarks at speeches or official meetings, he plans to share his views as candidly as possible in the language of the people in a relaxed atmosphere, and answer questions from the public."
The first episode will be released through the YouTube channel the following day, the 5th, at 9 p.m. Cheong Wa Dae said this is a time convenient for the public to watch.
